Vacancy Introduction

We’re proud of our team at H.L Perfitt who use their 450 years of combined experience in stonemasonry to create bespoke monumental, burial and cremation memorials, as well as beautiful stone kitchen worktops.

We’re looking for a number of people to join our team.  Whilst experience working with stone is great, we are also keen to ensure the right fit to our business of attitude, practical & physical ability, flexibility and the will to be trained.  Therefore, if you fit this profile without the experience, do not hold back on applying.

Role Responsibility

  • As part of a multi skilled team, prepare, produce and fit, either stone kitchen worktops or beautiful stone memorials in line with client requirements;
  • Use different types of equipment; CNC Machining; CNC Saws; Automated polishers; Sandblasters as well as manual methods (e.g. painting; hand-carving; etching, polishing; shaping) to create various finishes on to various types of stone;
  • Work with drawings of precise measurements and detail;
  • Ensure safe working practices at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Knowledge / experience of working with stone – but not essential;
  • If you have installation experience with a CSCS Card, or BRAMM/NAMM Fixers License and / or experience with equipment (such as CNC/SAWs, sandblasters and polishing machines) that would be great, but not essential;
  • Practical approach to work;
  • Good level of physical fitness;
  • Willingness to be trained and the flexibility to carry out different tasks;
  • Effective interpersonal skills, able to communicate with internal stakeholders and clients / customers
  • Team-player who is also able to work independently on their own initiative
  • Attention to detail
  • Commitment to working safely
  • Full UK driving license

Package Description

Starting salary £10.46 – rising to £11.00 following a successful 3 month probation, we also offer enhanced employer pension contribution and holiday entitlement, as well as our colleague discount scheme (including 10% off in our Foodstores) – these are just a few benefits of working for us! We currently have opportunities in both areas of the business, Kitchen Stone Worktops or Memorial Stonemasonry.  Opportunities also to progress through the business gaining different skills in either fitting or manufacturing, whilst using modern machinery or using traditional crafting skills.  Financial increases are dependent on successfully attaining further skill levels through the business.

Working Hours

General working hours for this role are 8am – 4:30pm Mon-Thurs. and 8am – 3:30pm Friday.  However, we understand the importance of balancing work commitments with other activities and responsibilities, which is why we are happy to offer flexible working. We are always looking to find the right solutions to suit our colleagues and the business. Please indicate your availability within your application.
