Memorial Artist

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Vacancy Introduction

We’re proud of our team at H.L Perfitt who use their 450 years of combined experience in stonemasonry to create bespoke monumental, burial and cremation memorials, as well as beautiful kitchen worktops and limestone bathrooms.

We’re looking for someone to join our memorials team. As someone with a natural, artistic flair, you’ll have the opportunity to take a brief and create a memorial design as individual as the person being remembered. You’ll bring your design to ‘life’ on beautiful stone in our workshop, using different manual and equipment-driven processes, such as etching, carving, painting and sandblasting.

As a Memorial Artist, you’ll take great pride in the pieces you create and the knowledge that these will be displayed as fitting tributes for years to come.

It would be great if you have worked with stone previously; however, we’re just as interested in hearing from you if you’re creative with a willingness to learn a new craft, as full training will be provided.

Role Responsibility

  • Create bespoke designs in accordance with the client’s wishes / brief
  • Use different types of equipment (e.g. sandblaster) and manual methods (e.g. painting, hand-carving and etching) to transfer bespoke and standard designs on to various types of stone
  • Accurately template / layout work for production using computer software
  • Advise on memorial design options, where required
  • Ensure safe working practices at all times

The Ideal Candidate

  • Natural, artistic flair with demonstrable experience / portfolio of intricate and bespoke designs and artwork
  • A hands-on and practical approach to work
  • Effective interpersonal skills, able to communicate with internal stakeholders at all levels, as well as clients and customers
  • Team-player who is also able to work independently on their own initiative
  • IT literate
  • Attention to detail
  • Full UK driving license

As above, experience of working with stone would be desirable, as would experience of using manual tools and knowledge of computer design software.
