Branch Manager (Food)

Vacancy Introduction

As the Branch Manager you are accountable for the entire running of your Branch.  In a typical day, you will be leading the Branch Team, managing stock levels, maximising profitability, liaising with your Area Manager, ensuring Health & Safety compliance and supporting a positive customer experience at all times.

This is an important role for the East of England Co-op, since the team you lead represents the Society in the community in which you are based.

Role Responsibility

Customer Experience:

  • Encourage a culture within the branch that puts customer as our top priority
  • Develop and encourage employees to be friendly, flexible and helpful with customers
  • Queues - monitor the number of customers queuing and redeploy colleagues as necessary
  • Deal promptly with complaints and compliments, ensuring colleagues are updated and advised
  • Engage with customers and seek feedback

Compliance

As Branch Manager you will be accountable for all safety, security and compliance related matters at your branch and therefore your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Consistently achieving and maintaining high standards of cleanliness, housekeeping and food hygiene
  • Achieving, maintaining and managing compliance with and implementation of all Health and Safety, Food Safety, Age Related Sales and Security related policies and procedures including the Society's challenge 25 and cash / stock security policy
  • Ensuring all safety and security related accidents, incidents or significant occurrences are reported
  • Ensuring all colleague complete all required compliance related training courses
  • Acting as the Branch's principal First Aider, attending the required training course and making sure there s a qualified First Aider present on all shifts where practicable

People Management

  • You are responsible for creating a positive and safe environment that is beneficial in advancing your colleagues personally and professionally
  • Manager and discuss KPI's with your management team and monitor their progress
  • Maintain and monitor both performance and attendance within your branch, ensuring colleague numbers remain sufficient through absence cover
  • Manage any issues / developments as they arise (capability, conduct, training, attitude, performance)
  • Conduct and manage PDR's, ensuring appropriate feedback and targets are acted upon
  • Leas all recruitment activity and hire the best people
  • Carry out probationary reviews in due time, ensuring all new colleagues comply to Society regulation
  • Provide and organise relevant training and develop progression opportunities for your colleagues
  • Implement changes in your branch, ensure your colleagues are well informed of any developments

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • You will have excellent communication skills with a broad range of customers, colleagues and senior managers in a variety of circumstances
  • You should have excellent standards of numeracy and literacy
  • Ability to nurture and support colleagues in developing their competence and capability
