Assistant Branch Manager (Food Retail)

Vacancy Introduction

As an Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the Branch Manager in the entire running of our busy Supermarket. In a typical day, you will be responsible for ensuring the branch’s full potential and profitability is achieved through great store standards and product availability, control of costs and customer engagement. You will also be accountable for branch compliance, including areas such as Health & Safety.

Role Responsibility

You will be responsible for leading and managing the team in-store. Whilst you will have the support of the Branch Manager, you will need to demonstrate the confidence and leadership skills that bring out the best in those around you to ensure that a positive customer experience is delivered at all times. 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Excellent communication skills with a broad range of Customers, Colleagues and Senior Managers in a variety of circumstances
  • Commitment to continuously improve the performance of your Branch
  • Drive, determination and resilience
  • Experience of managing team managers and customer service assistants (or similar)
  • Ability to use technology effectively – MS Office applications and in-house systems for: Stock-control and ordering, Resource planning and monitoring, self-directed learning etc.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety, Food Safety, Age-related sales regulations and legislation
  • Ability to nurture and support colleagues in developing their competence and capability
